We will therefore inform you in the following about how your personal data is handled by WM SE. Trost.com is provided by WM SE which has its registered office in Osnabrück (hereinafter referred to as "WM SE").

1. Basic principles

WM SE only collects, stores and processes your personal data if this is permitted by law or if you have given WM SE your permission.

You can always use our website without providing us with any personal information. However, for the purpose of using other linked WM SE websites, such as the TROST customer zone, we will ask for personal information, such as your user name and your password in order to verify your authority and to ensure that we can provide you with the relevant service quickly and in a user friendly way.

2. Information we get from your use of our services

2.1 Log file

Some data is received automatically for technical reasons as soon as you visit our website. This includes the log data from the web server. Every time you visit content offered on our website or you access a file, the access data relating to this action is stored as a log file on our server. Every data record consists of:

  • the page from which the file was requested
  • the name of the file, the date and time of the request

  • a description of the type of browser used
  • the IP address assigned to you by your provider

The stored data are evaluated anonymously for statistical purposes only. This data is permanently deleted 4 weeks after it is first collected.

2.2 Cookies

Cookies are small files which contain a character string in which certain information can be stored in encrypted form. Cookies are sent from the server and stored on your computer. Their initial purpose is to identify the computer from which a website has been visited. If a service on a website is used, cookies are used to notify the server and to check authorisation to access the web page. Cookies can be set by the website operator as well as from third-party providers. Every cookie has its own expiry date after which it is no longer valid.

WM SE does not use any cookies on Trost.com. However, use of Google Analytics results in third-party cookies being placed by Google Inc. ("Google"). More information relating to this topic is provided in the next section.

2.3 Google Analytics

In order to improve our website we use Google Analytics: a web analysis service from Google Inc. ("Google"). Google Analytics uses "cookies"; these are text files which are stored on your computer to analyse the way you use the website. The information about the way you use this website created by the cookie is sent to and stored on a Google server in the USA. IP anonymisation is activated on this website, so that Google first truncates your IP address in Member States of the European Union or in other state parties to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address sent to and truncated on a Google server in the USA. Google uses this information on behalf of the website operator to evaluate the way you use the website, to collate reports on website activities and to provide the website operator other services related to website and Internet use. The IP address sent by your browser as part of Google Analytics is not combined with other data held by Google.

You can change your browser settings to prevent cookies from being stored; however, we draw your attention to the fact that, in these circumstances, you may find that you are unable to make full use of functions on the website. You can also prevent the data relating to your use of the website which is captured by the cookie being sent to or processed by Google by downloading and installing the browser plug-in from the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

If your browser does not support the opt-out plugin (perhaps because you are going to the website with a smartphone or tablet) or if you do not wish to install this plugin, you can set a cookie via this link which prevents Google Analytics being used on these web pages. Please note that this opt out only works if you do not delete the cookies in your browser. If you wish to retain your opt-out settings even if you have deleted the cookies, you can also install a plugin. You will find more information about this here.

More information relating to data privacy with Google Analytics is available here, and Google's general Google data privacy rules here.
